Rachel Umoren, MBBCH, MS
Dr. Rachel Umoren is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatology and Adjunct Associate Professor of Global Health and Healthcare Simulation Science at the University of Washington where she is Associate Division Head for Research, Director of Research for the Neonatal Education and Simulation-based Training (NEST) program and Inpatient Medical Director for Telehealth at Seattle Children's Hospital in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Umoren received her medical degree from the University of Calabar, Nigeria, and completed her pediatric residency and neonatal fellowship training at Indiana University Health Riley Children's Hospital where she also earned a Masters' degree in Clinical Research.
Her research on innovative ways to improve neonatal resuscitation and care practices through virtual simulation and telemedicine in high and low resource settings has received funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She is the Chair of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare Virtual Simulation Section and Program Director for the American Academy of Pediatrics International Community Access to Child Health (ICATCH) Grants Program.
