Erica Knoll, MPAS, PA-C

Erica Knoll, MPAS, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA) in the Department of Pediatrics - Pediatric Neurology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. PA Knoll completed her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in 2009 studying Biology and Genetics. She then earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from UT Southwestern School of Health Professionals in 2013.
She has worked in child neurology since 2014. She started her career with a focus on inpatient neuro-hospitalist care, before continuing her career in the outpatient neurology clinic. She has since further specialized in neuromuscular disorders and has been an integral part of the neuromuscular disorders multidisciplinary program as of 2022. She actively participates in several clinical research trials concentrated on neuromuscular disorders, performs lumbar punctures for intrathecal medication injection in patients with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and is heavily involved with the gene replacement therapy programs for both Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. She is co-leader of the medical team for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Summer Camp Program and participates in several advocacy and awareness events for her patients. She has also collaborated in establishing patient/parent weekend workshops for neuromuscular families and has provided talks on various topics at these events.
She has been an ongoing repeat lecturer at the UT Southwestern Physician Assistant Program since 2019 pertaining to genetic disorders in children. She has been a guest speaker for the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants annual conference and for the UTSW APP Pediatric Lecture Series. She also provided inpatient nurse resident education at Children’s Health regarding neurological diagnoses and inpatient management. She continues to precept both PA and NP students for clinical rotations.
She has been nominated for many awards, including the UTSW Outstanding APP in Professional & Community Service, UTSW Physician Assistant of the Year, and Children’s Health Advanced Practice Service Education and Advocacy. In 2024, she received the Children’s Health Advanced Practice Service Quality Care Award.
