Anthony Incognito, Ph.D.
I study reflex control of sympathetic and respiratory activity in health and disease. In my human work, I specialize in recording sympathetic activity from peripheral nerves using microneurography, and in my animal work, I specialize in using in situ working-heart brainstem techniques with simultaneous recordings from sympathetic, parasympathetic, and respiratory nerves, as well as optogenetic and chemogenetic to manipulate sympathetic activity. My basic science interests lie in understanding baroreflex and chemoreflex control of cardiorespiratory function. My clinical interests lie in translating this basic knowledge towards the development of treatments for cardiorespiratory disorders.
