Rafael Sanguinetti, B.H.Sc. Candidate
Rafael is currently entering his fourth year of undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary. Since October 2019, he has been working in the Phillips Lab as a volunteer research assistant, where he has gained a strong passion for neuroscience and clinical research studies through work on orthostatic hypertension and neurovascular coupling. Through his time at the Phillips Lab, Rafael has published work on the associations between mental health and physical activity in individuals with spinal cord injuries, and has investigated the mechanisms of hemodynamic regulation in orthostatic hypotension. Rafael is currently completing his honours thesis in the Phillips Lab, where he is using optogenetic techniques to understand hemodynamic regulation in the spinal cord.
