Sudipta Datta, Doctor of Medicine Candidate
Sudipta is currently studying Doctor of Medicine at The University of Sydney. Prior to commencing his medical studies, he was 8 months into his PhD candidacy in Neurophysiology. He hopes to continue his research in the future.
In 2020, Sudipta completed his Honours project in Neurophysiology, at the University of Melbourne, where he looked into the stimulation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex on the vestibular modulation of skin sympathetic nerve activity. Under the guidance of Professor Vaughan Macefield and Dr Tye Dawood, he conducted microneurography studies, whilst employing transcranial alternating current stimulation and sinusoidal galvanic vestibular stimulation. He is specifically interested in mental disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety, which are associated with dysfunctions within the prefrontal cortex and implicated in vestibular disorders. He worked alongside his peers Brendan McCarthy, Rebecca Wong, and Gianni Sesa-Ashton
