Harshini Seetharam, Miss
I am Harshini Nadig S, an accomplished researcher and educator with a strong foundation in molecular biology and biophysics. Currently i am a 2nd year PhD student at SFU. I earned my M.Sc and B.Sc degrees from Bangalore University, India, demonstrating exceptional academic prowess with first-class honors and ranking among the top students in my class. Additionally, I obtained a Diploma in Bioinformatics, further enriching my skill set. Currently serving as a dedicated Project Assistant at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, I specialize in cloning genes of interest and developing AAV systems for in vivo studies in mice models, emphasizing my expertise in molecular techniques and protein analysis. Previously, during my tenure as a Research Associate at Jubilant Biosys, I contributed significantly to 3-D structure determination of small molecule drug candidates associated with cancer and metabolic disorders. My role also involved executing protein crystallization experiments and conducting various biochemical assays. Additionally, I played a pivotal role as an RnD Associate at Azooka Life Sciences LLP, where I was part of the marketing team that introduced the eco-safe nucleic acid stain "Tinto Rang" to the market. My passion for teaching led me to guide bachelor's and master's students at Prof. HS Savithri's lab, Department of Biochemistry, IISc, and also teach biology at educational institutions in Bangalore. My contributions to the field of science have been recognized through numerous awards, including being a University 4th Rank Holder in M.Sc and receiving the Best Out-Going Student award from the Department of Zoology. My research endeavors have resulted in the publication of papers that I am working on novel plant-based dyes for staining nucleic acids, showcasing my commitment to innovative scientific exploration.
