Dr Miguel A. Vazquez is Professor of Internal Medicine. Dr Vazquez is the Clinical Chief of the Nephrology Division at UT Southwestern and the Nephrology Chief at Parkland Hospital. Dr Vazquez participates in the care of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), end stage kidney disease and kidney transplant candidates and recipients at Clements University Hospital and Parkland Hospital. His research focuses in the care of patients with chronic kidney disease. He is the Principal Investigator of NIH-sponsored ICD-Pieces which is a pragmatic clinical trial embedded in four large health systems to improve the care of patients with coexistent CKD, diabetes and hypertension. He is also the Co-PI at UT Southwestern for the NIDDK-sponsored Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) and the current Co-Chair of Clinical Operations for the KPMP study consortium.
