Enas Kandil, MD, Msc
Dr. Kandil MD, MSc is a Pain Management Physician who specializes in cancer pain and treats patients at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. She is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Kandil is the lead physician on the Opioid Stewardship team at Parkland Hospital and at UTSW.
Dr. Kandil’s subspecialty is Pain Management with double board certification Anesthesiology & Pain from the American Board of Anesthesiologist as well as FIPP certified from the World Institute of Pain.
After graduating residency from Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Kandil pursued and completed a Pain Management fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She went on to serve at the Dallas Veterans Affairs Hospital where she later served as the Chief of Pain Management. She served in several leadership positions that included Visn 17 pain Chairman and Chairman of the Dallas VA Hospital Pain Committee.
During her tenure at the VA doctor Kandil pursued and acquired a master degree in Clinical Science from the University of Texas Southwestern where she currently practices Pain, Anesthesia and Regional Anesthesia and teaches medical students residents and pain fellows.
Dr. Kandil’s research interests include neuropathic pain, opioid safety, and cancer pain.
Her basic science focus has been on the development of novel analgesic drugs that may serve as opioid alternatives. The basic science research targets drugs that act as analgesics by modulating Eph B receptor signals and pain pathways.
