Harry Kim, MD, MS, is the Director for the Center for Excellence in Hip Disorders at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.  He is a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Kim obtained his medical education at McGill University in Montreal, Canada where he graduated with a distinction of University Scholar. He completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Toronto and his pediatric orthopedic fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. During his residency, he obtained a Master of Science degree under Dr. Robert B. Salter as his supervisor.  Dr Kim has a special clinical and research interest in pediatric hip disorders including Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, other juvenile avascular necrosis, and developmental dysplasia of the hip.  He has published over 100 original research articles on juvenile femoral head osteonecrosis, his basic research on ischemic osteonecrosis, and other topics. He has written numerous textbook chapters and review articles. He also provides a national and international leadership as the Chair and a founding member of the International Perthes Study Group (www.perthesdisease.org). Dr. Kim has received numerous awards, including eight Best Basic Scientific Paper Awards from the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America, ORS New Investigator Recognition Award, OREF Career Development Award, and POSNA Arthur H. Huene Memorial Award.
