Tonia Vinton, MD
Biography
Tonia Vinton, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in UT Southwestern Medical Group’s Department of Internal Medicine, and a physician in the UT Southwestern Weight Wellness at Texas Health Dallas.
Dr Vinton received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Texas at Austin and her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School. She completed her internship and Internal Medicine residency at UT Southwestern. She practiced Hospital Medicine prior to her combined internal medicine and obesity practice at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where she was the medical director for the Nutrition and Weight Management Program.
Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, Dr. Vinton returned to UT Southwestern in 2021 to serve as the medical director of the Weight Wellness Program’s joint clinic with UT Southwestern Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Vinton is highly active in local and national medical groups. She is the president and founder of the Dallas Obesity Society and a member of the Obesity Medical Association and The Obesity Society. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
In her leisure time, Dr. Vinton enjoys cooking, reading, running, biking, and hiking. She has completed two sprint triathlons and five half-marathons to date.
