Rachel Hogen, M.D.

Dr. Rachel Hogen is an Assistant Professor of Surgery and the Director of the Abdominal Transplant Fellowship at the University of South Florida – Tampa General Hospital. She did medical school at the University of California, San Diego. She completed her surgical training and fellowship in abdominal transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at the Keck Medical Center of the University of Southern California. Dr. Hogen brings deep clinical expertise in the management of complex liver and kidney transplant patients, and she plays an integral role in delivering high volume, high acuity transplant care at Tampa General Hospital.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Hogen is a dedicated educator and leader in surgical training, with a strong commitment to mentoring the next generation of transplant surgeons. She has published extensively in the field of transplantation, with research spanning pediatric liver transplantation, immunosuppression strategies, and surgical outcomes. Her talk today, titled “Cardiac Pathology and Peri-operative Management in the Cirrhotic”, reflects her continued focus on optimizing multidisciplinary care for high-risk patients and advancing the science and education of transplant surgery.
