The Women’s Health Research Initiative Symposium will present cutting-edge research spanning cardiovascular health, reproductive biology, neuroendocrinology, and women’s performance medicine. This full-day interdisciplinary program connects basic, translational, and clinical scientists to address critical topics in women’s health across the lifespan. Attendees will learn about emerging discoveries in heart disease unique to women, hormonal regulation of brain differences, reproductive system biomechanics, infection and pregnancy outcomes, and advances in cancer biology and nutrition. By integrating perspectives from leading external and UT Southwestern experts, this symposium will foster collaboration and inspire innovative research directions.

Target Audience

This program is designed for clinicians, researchers, and trainees interested in advancing women’s health through science-driven insights and interdisciplinary dialogue.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe emerging research findings in women’s health—including genotype-directed therapies, hormone-informed interventions, and novel diagnostic approaches—and discuss how best to apply this knowledge to clinical decision-making.
  2. Explain the biological and physiological factors linking reproductive health with cardiovascular, neurological, and systemic health across the lifespan.
  3. Discuss strategies for integrating current evidence on women’s athletic health, pregnancy outcomes, and aging into patient care strategies to promote optimal long-term well-being.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with researchers and interdisciplinary specialists to apply emerging scientific discoveries to clinical decision-making in women’s health.
