IMPORTANT UPDATE: 04/29/2026

Background

New Texas legislation requires all healthcare practitioners to have their continuing education (CE) verified through a CE tracking system prior to license renewal. To meet this requirement, the Texas Medical Board has designated CE Broker as the official tracking platform. All licensees must create a free Basic account:
CE Broker

Effective September 1, 2026, to renew your license you must:

  • Have an active CE Broker account
  • Ensure all continuing education (CE) is reported in CE Broker
  • Meet all CE compliance requirements, as noncompliance will prevent license renewal

Important Note:

  • Texas law requires the Texas Medical Board (TMB) to verify CE compliance for all licensed health care practitioners using a tracking system.
  • The TMB will exclusively use CE Broker to verify continuing education compliance.

UT Southwestern (UTSW) Non-Physician Learners - Required Actions

  • UT Southwestern currently reports only physician CME, which is AMA PRA Category 1 Credit, from EthosCE to CE Broker. Because of this, non-physician licensees must upload their own CE certificates directly into CE Broker.
  • Non-physician TMB licensees also need to create a CE Broker account and update their EthosCE profile with the correct TMB license information.
  • Some non-physician boards may accept a certificate of participation or completion for CE activities completed through UTSW. Licensees should check their board’s requirements and upload the appropriate certificate directly into CE Broker when applicable.
  • Please make sure your CE Broker account is accurate and up to date, including any CE completed outside of UTSW or any CE that is not reported by UTSW.
