Christopher Wu
Dr. Christopher Wu is an anesthesiologist at Hospital for Special Surgery/Weill Cornell Medicine. After completing his anesthesiology training at the University of Rochester, Dr. Wu joined the faculty at the University of Rochester and The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he oversaw numerous clinical, research, and educational initiatives.
He is considered one of the leading experts in acute postoperative pain management and regional anesthesia today. With a Google h-index of 84, Dr. Wu has published nearly 300 peer reviewed publications. His articles have been cited over 32,000 times with his top 23 articles being cited over 300 times each. In 2024, Dr. Wu was the recipient of the prestigious Gaston Labat Award from the American Society of Regional Anesthesia for his outstanding contributions to the development, teaching and practice of regional anesthesia. His primary research interest revolve around the impact of regional anesthesia techniques and acute pain management on patient outcomes.
He currently is an executive editor for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and has served on the many editorial boards including Anesthesiology, British Journal of Anaesthesia, and Anesthesia and Analgesia. He is part of the working group for PROSPECT, an international multidisciplinary group to provide guidelines for pain management in common but potentially painful operations. Dr. Wu has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and was a member of the Founding Committee for the American Society of Enhanced Recovery. As the recipient of 10 teaching-mentorship awards, Dr. Wu is heavily invested in the education and development of fellow anesthesiologists and serves as a mentor and educator to many anesthesiologists from around the globe.
