This CME activity is designed to provide practicing physicians in an academic setting and in the community with new advances in atrial fibrillation and heart failure therapies. In addition, a portion of this activity is designed to familiarize the providers with potentially new and novel therapies that may be introduced in clinical practice in the near future. Learners will be presented with management strategies for atrial fibrillation and expected to be able to identify therapies in preclinical work, clinical testing and therapies recently introduced in clinical practice. They will also be presented with new information on the management of left atrial appendage and closure devices, diagnosis and management of systolic heart failure and mechanical support devices and heart transplant for patients with end stage heart diseases.

Target Audience

This course is designed for MD/DO’s, Nurse Practitioners, Physician’s Assistants, Nurses, and Scientists/Researchers that desire advanced knowledge in heart failure in atrial fibrillation.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify new therapies for heart failure and atrial fibrillation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of left atrial appendage closure devices
  • Identify different types of mechanical support devices and implant techniques
  • Demonstrate the understanding of heart failure related health care costs
