To provide an update on the extent and duration of intense anti-platelet therapy after atherosclerotic coronary events.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify antiplatelet therapy options indicated for patients following myocardial infarction or percutaneous coronary interventions.
- Assess the benefits and the risks associated with antiplatelet therapy for these indications.
- Identify those most likely to benefit as well those who are poor candidates for treatment.
- Determine treatment duration and methods to reduce risks associated with treatment.
