This lecture will focus on updates in the evaluation and management of patients with genetic syndromes of polyposis and colorectal cancer.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Recognize the major colonic polyposis syndromes and their clinical presentations.
- Recommend the proper diagnostic testing to surveil polyposis patients for colonic and extracolonic malignancies.
- Understand relationships between the major genetic pathways leading to sporadic colon cancer and their corresponding inherited colorectal cancer syndrome (FAP and Lynch Syndrome, respectively).
