This presentation will cover the indications for proton pump inhibitor use, address issues related to PPI overuse, and discuss potential long-term adverse effects of proton pump inhibitors.

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify the FDA-approved indications and other commonly accepted uses for proton pump inhibitors.
- Understand the potential long-term adverse effects of proton pump inhibitors.
- Understand ways to discuss risks and benefits of proton pump inhibitors and how to step-down PPI therapy when needed.
