The purpose of this course is to inform the audience about the pathophysiology of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and its manifestation as a geriatric syndrome.

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Understand the contribution of low exercise capacity and age-related accelerated fitness decline toward development of HFpEF
  • Understand the prevalence of prognostic implications of frailty and comorbidity burden in HFpEF
  • Understand the role of exercise training in improving exercise capacity in patients with HFpEF
