Purpose and Overview
To review the current lack of racial diversity in clinical trials and the adverse consequences of this lack of diversity. The lecturer will discuss the underlying causes and propose some potential solutions.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- List at least 2 negative consequences of the lack of racial diversity in clinical trials.
- List at least 2 underlying causes of the current lack of racial diversity in clinical trials.
- Discuss at least one strategy to enhance racial diversity in clinical trials.
