Purpose and Overview

The purpose of my talk is to discuss new findings concerning the relationship(s) between beta cells and immune cells that lead to autoimmune diabetes. I also plan to discuss new treatments for treatment/delay/prevention of Type 1 diabetes.

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Understand the natural history of Type 1 diabetes.
  • Identify inflammatory pathways involved in beta cell destruction.
  • Understand therapies that may change the course of Type 1 diabetes.
