Purpose and Overview
To describe gaps in care for lipid lowering, reasons for underutilization of lipid lowering therapies, and potential interventions for improvement.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Describe reasons for underutilization of statin therapy.
- Understand barriers to uptake of novel high-cost therapies.
- Be familiar with new, FDA-approved lipid lowering therapy.
