Purpose and Overview
The purpose of the lecture is to understand how the role of functional assessment in the are of older patients. The lecture will consider how functional assessment improves patient care, the determinants of disability in older persons, and how to prevent and manage disability.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Describe how to take a functional status history in an older patient.
- Describe determinants of disability.
- Describe how to manage and prevent disability.
