Purpose and Overview

Describe the epidemiology of cardiometabolic risk in South Asians, risk factors, and our efforts at UTSW to improve clinical care, investigation, and awareness among the South Asian community. 

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Appreciate the epidemiology of coronary heart disease and diabetes in South Asians. 
  • Utilize risk factor assessments in South Asian patients. 
  • Refer patients to resources at UTSW devoted to clinical care and investigation.
