Purpose and Overview
The purpose of this talk is to review the healthcare burden of lung cancer, discuss the origin and evolution of lung cancer screening, evaluate obstacles to implementation and present a pathway to optimizing screening.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Understand the public health burden of lung cancer and the population level benefits of screening.
- Know and apply the recommended lung cancer screening guideline criteria.
- Engage in shared decision-making conversations with patients regarding the lung cancer screening process.
