Dr. Dan Sucato is currently the chief of staff at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, and professor in the department of Orthopaedic surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.  He completed the Dorothy and Bryant Edwards Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Scoliosis at TSRHC in 1998.  He also completed a hip preservation fellowship under Reinhold Ganz in 1998 in Bern, Switzerland.  He serves as Director of the Sarah M. and Charles E. Seay/Martha and Pat Beard Center for Excellence in Spine Research. He graduated magna cum laude from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. Dr. Sucato received his medical degree (magna cum laude) and a Master of Science degree in biophysics from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, where he also completed his general surgery internship, orthopaedic surgery residency and basic science research fellowship. He served as one of three International Traveling Fellows for the Scoliosis Research Society in 2003.  Dr. Sucato is widely published in pediatric orthopaedics with a focus in the areas of spinal deformity and hip conditions and has delivered dozens of presentations worldwide. Dr. Sucato is a member of the Harms Spine Deformity study group and the ANCHOR (Academic Network of Conservational Hip Outcomes Research) study group. Dr. Sucato is a member of the American Medical Association; the Texas Medical Association; the Scoliosis Research Society; the North American Spine Society; the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America; and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Sucato is a reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics and the Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, and a consultant reviewer for Spine, Spinal Deformity The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and the Journal of Spinal Cord Medicine.
