SRC's Brandon Carrell Visiting Professorship 2024 (JS2406B)

June 21, 2024 to June 22, 2024

This one and one-half day course will focus on state-of-the-art treatment protocols at Scottish Rite for Children (SRC) and current research conducted by the residents, fellows and staff physicians at SRC. The program will utilize case presentations and question/answer format in addition to PowerPoint presentations. Faculty are also invited from across the country to share their research and practice protocols. Ample time will be allocated for discussion between audience and the faculty.

Target Audience

The course is designed for pediatric orthopedic surgeons and orthopedic surgeons with an interest in pediatric orthopedics. In addition, other healthcare providers are invited to attend but are reminded that the content will focus on pediatric orthopedics.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the updates in pediatric orthopaedic trauma and musculoskeletal infection and how those updates inform the latest techniques for optimal management of these common conditions
  • Discuss strategies in the management of developmental dysplasia of the hip with a focus on residual dysplasia after successful initial reduction.
  • Identify and discuss the underlying pathogenesis of slipped capital femoral epiphysis and treatment options both acutely and for residual deformity.
