EM2510F "Structural Heart Disease Interventions in Safety Net Populations" (IM GR-103125)
Purpose and Overview
Valvular heart disease contributes to long term adverse outcomes, recurrent hospitalizations and diminished quality of life. Significant disparities remain in access to transcatheter heart valve interventions. In this presentation, we will review the evolving structural heart landscape, current disparities and considerations for mitigating disparities in access.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Appreciate adverse outcomes associated with untreated valvular heart disease.
- Recognize disparities in access to transcatheter valvular interventions.
- Understand systematic approaches to mitigate disparities in access to valvular heart disease interventions.
