Purpose and Overview
Update Internal Medicine faculty and trainees on the transformative impact of the new highly effective incretin hormone-based medications for the treatment of obesity. The presentation will address the societal impact of these medications on multiple stakeholders, the pleiotropic mechanisms of action and clinical outcomes of these agents, and practical tips for clinical management.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Discuss the societal impact of the novel incretin hormone-based obesity medications
- Explain the mechanisms of action and treatment outcomes of incretin hormone-based obesity medications
- Describe practice implications and management of patients receiving incretin hormone-based obesity medications
