Purpose and Overview
The objective is to utilize a recent randomized blood pressure trial to unmask bias in our approach to treating blood pressure in older adults.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- ...understand the results of the SPRINT blood pressure trial, and its implications for hypertension management overall.
- ...understand the results of the SPRINT blood pressure trial, as it relates to persons aged > 75 years.
- ...consider the impact of observer bias when clinical practice only shows us harms from interventions but not their benefits.
