Wendy and Emery Reves International Biennial Breast Cancer Symposium (RP1705A)

Dallas, TX US
May 5, 2017 to May 6, 2017

In 1990, a donation of $2 million was made to endow the Wendy and Emery Reves International Breast Cancer Symposium and to establish the Reves Breast Cancer Diagnostic and Treatment Center at UT Southwestern University Hospitals and Clinics in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Reves.

This program is designed to improve the clinician's ability to care for patients with breast cancer, provide information on the latest technologies, treatment options, and survivorship care. Attendees will gain familiarity with new classification systems for breast cancer, and new genomic tools to define risk that impacts therapy. Assessment of familial breast cancer risk and recognition of familial cancer syndromes will be covered. We will examine new data concerning the role of hormonal manipulation in the ER/PR positive patient and duration of therapy and the emerging roles for agents that target the Her2/Her3/Her4 receptors. An update on the latest information in radiation treatment and surgical management will be provided. The learner will have a better understanding of the comprehensive approach to modern breast cancer management in a multidisciplinary setting.

This event will feature a public education portion on Friday evening that will focus on survivorship of breast cancer. Topics on recurrence, emotional reactions to diagnosis and treatment, and the genetics of breast cancer will be presented. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with the presenters at a reception directly following the conclusion of the evening presentations.
