48th Annual Carrell Krusen Neuromuscular Symposium (RP2602D)
This symposium is a clinical education experience for members of multidisciplinary teams who care for patients with rare, complex neuromuscular diseases including hereditary muscular dystrophies, motor neuron diseases, neuroimmunologic neuropathies and rare genetic disorders of muscle and nerve. Case presentations will include physical diagnosis and discussion of management and new therapies by participating experts. All discussions involve active participation by attendees. The educational format for this activity includes didactic lectures with in depth Q&A, panel discussions, and PowerPoint Presentations. The content of the program is identified and developed through a Call for Abstracts process. The 2026 keynote speaker will present a formal lecture on the emerging landscape for metabolic myopathies.

Learning Objectives
- Review the phenotypic spectrum of Pompe disease with focus on LOPD, clinical trial updates, and quality-of-life management strategies.
- Discuss recent advances in the genetic diagnosis of neuromuscular disorders, in research and clinical practice and the latest developments in treatment such as gene replacement therapy, cell therapy and forms of RNA therapy.
- Review the pathophysiology, genetic underpinnings, and current treatment strategies for metabolic myopathies.
- Discuss the clinical applications of results of imaging both MRI and ultrasound as well as histopathology in neuromuscular disorders.
