This periodic series will provide learners with knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage active children and adolescents with injuries and conditions affecting their ability to participate in activities and sports.
Target Audience
Physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, athletic trainers and other health care professionals who care for sport-related conditions and injuries should attend to improve their ability to counsel patients and families as well as prevent and care for these conditions.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss principles unique to evaluation and treatment of female athlete
- List the components of the female athlete triad and RED-S using current nomenclature to address the spectrums of each component
- Provide evidence-based information to parents and young female athletes regarding relationship between triad and injury risk, especially bone stress injury
- Discuss mental health concerns unique to female athletes
- Recognize and list the components of the male athlete triad
