100 Academic Clinical Provider Lecture Series "The Past, Present and Future of CAR T-Cell Therapy" (EM100-012125)

Overview

The purpose of this program is to:

1) Provide a forum to review and discuss the clinical management of patients and to evaluate issues confronted by today’s Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants in both public and private clinical practice and medical research settings.

2) Provide a forum through which current UT Southwestern protocols and Ethical issues are addressed.

The course material will be presented through lecture presentations, power points, case studies, question and answer sessions, and video presentations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Define a CAR T-cell
  • Give a brief history of CAR T-cells
  • Describe how CAR T-cells are manufactured
  • Identify disease states for which CAR T-cell therapy is currently used
  • Describe the process leading up to CAR T-cell therapy
  • List potential side effects of CAR T-cell therapy
  • Identify other non-hematologic diseases being evaluated for the treatment with CAR T-cell therapy
  • List limitations of current CAR T-cell therapy in non-hematologic malignancies
