TSRH 40th Annual Brandon Carrell Visiting Professorship (JS1804B)

April 6, 2018 to April 7, 2018

Lectures will be presented by Dr. Peter Newton, chief of the division of Orthopedics & Scoliosis at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego, Ca. In addition, the staff at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children and visiting pediatric orthopedists from throughout the United States will be making presentations. Ample time will be allowed for discussion of lecture topics between audience and the faculty.

Target Audience

This course is designed for pediatric orthopedic surgeons and other orthopaedic surgeons with an interest in current pediatric orthopaedic practice. Primary care physicians and allied health professionals are also 
welcome, but are reminded that the program is concerned specifically with pediatric orthopedics.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
1. Identify the rationale selecting the ideal tethering candidate.
2. Discuss the differences in assessing scoliosis in 2D vs. 3D
3. Discuss treatment options in spinal deformity management and correction.
