Ophthalmology at the Crossroads 2024 (RP2412D)
This one-day live CME activity is designed to bring cutting edge basic and clinical research finding to both the practicing general ophthalmologist and sub-specialist in all fields of ophthalmology. Didactic lectures with interactive discussion address the seven sub-specialty areas of ophthalmology: cornea and external disease, retina and vitreous surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, neuro-ophthalmology, ophthalmic plastic surgery, ophthalmic pathology, and glaucoma. This course also offers a medical ethics lecture

Learning Objectives
- Define and differentiate between various types of retinal diseases.
- Recognize the common symptoms and signs of retinal diseases.
- Describe the diagnostic tools and procedures used to detect retinal diseases.
- Describe the anatomy and physiology of the eyelids, orbit, tear ducts, and surrounding facial structures.
- Identify and differentiate between common oculoplastic conditions such as ptosis, entropion, ectropion, blepharoplasty, orbital fractures, and tear duct obstructions.
- Recognize early signs of complications associated with oculoplastic surgeries and manage them appropriately.
- Recognize the early signs and symptoms of glaucoma and the latest treatment methods available.
- Develop skills to effectively communicate with patients about their diagnosis, treatment options, and the importance of adherence to prescribed therapies.
- Recognize risk factors and causes leading to corneal complications. Identify strategies in complicated corneal surgical cases to optimize outcomes.
