The Charles F. Gregory Memorial Lectureship 2025 (RP2506D)
The annual Charles F. Gregory Memorial Lecture is dedicated to the memory of the first Division Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He served as Chief from 1956 until 1976 and ushered in our first Academic Orthopaedic program that we follow today. This year's guest speaker is Dr. Ginger Holt will present a didactic lecture on "Educating Millennials: A toolkit for success", addressing how Orthopedic Surgery healthcare professionals need to acknowledge the unique factors of the millennial learner and provide teaching tools that will improve and maximize education. Our 6 graduating residents will present their best scholarly activity that will examine current orthopaedic topics of interest to orthopaedic surgeons.
Target Audience
This activity provides informative sessions that are tailored to current updates in orthopaedic surgery and as such is appropriate for all orthopedic providers and healthcare professionals.
Learning Objectives
- Discuss the history and evolution of millennial learners.
- Describe millennial learning behaviors and how to adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
- Integrate modern teaching tools, such as the flipped classroom, surgical simulation, virtual reality, and digital platforms, alongside traditional learning methods to engage millennial learners.
- Identify the current treatment options for common orthopedic conditions, including musculoskeletal issues.
- Apply principles of competency-based training methods to practice in order to proactively address musculoskeletal issues in both adult and pediatric orthopedic surgery.
