2026 Functional Neurological Disorder Virtual Symposium: Interconnected Pathways: Exploring Brain–Mind–Body Interface Disorders beyond FND (RP2604G)
Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a common neuropsychiatric condition that leads to higher rates of disability, diminished quality of life, and increased health care utilization. It continues to be under-recognized within the medical community. A compassionate communication of the diagnosis and referral to evidence-based treatments can result in considerable improvements for those living with FND. This live-streamed webinar aims to provide education about the diagnosis, management, and multidisciplinary approach to FND presented via didactic lectures and discussion. The conference culminates in an Interprofessional Educational Q&A panel, offering an opportunity for these professionals to engage in a dynamic discussion. During this panel, they will share their distinct perspectives and treatment approaches to Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), enriching the attendees’ understanding by highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of care and treatment strategies for this complex condition.
Target Audience
The target audience will be health care clinicians involved in clinical neuroscience, e.g. physicians, advanced practice providers, psychologists, social workers, licensed professional counselors, and rehabilitative therapists, who may span departments of psychiatry, neurology, and/or physiatry.
Learning Objectives
- Describe shared mechanisms across brain–mind–body interface disorders.
- Recognize positive diagnostic features of functional and related syndromes.
- Communicate diagnostic explanations clearly and compassionately.
- Apply multidisciplinary treatment strategies including psychotherapy, rehabilitation, GI and urologic focused behavioral therapies, and pain management.
- Evaluate the future potential of virtual reality and neuromodulation in assessment and treatment.
