ForwardOphthalmology at the Crossroads 2026 (RP2612E)
This one-day live hybrid CME activity is designed to bring cutting edge basic and clinical research finding to both the practicing general ophthalmologist and sub-specialist physicians in all fields of ophthalmology. The educational format includes didactic lectures with interactive discussion to address the following sub-specialty areas of ophthalmology: cornea and external disease, retinal diseases, ophthalmic pathology, ophthalmic plastic surgery, and glaucoma. This course also offers a medical ethics lecture discussing ethical communication with patients.

Learning Objectives
- Recognize and differentiate age‑related retinal diseases and assess recent advances in diagnostic and treatment strategies.
- Evaluate and appropriately utilize advanced retinal imaging and other diagnostic modalities to accurately assess retinal conditions.
- Identify early signs of glaucoma and compare current and emerging therapeutic options, including their mechanisms, indications, and limitations.
- Describe age‑related changes in the crystalline lens and apply current evidence to manage cataract patients, including those with co‑morbidities or high‑risk features such as myopia.
- Discuss diagnoses for vision‑threatening neuro‑ophthalmic conditions, including Thyroid Eye Disease, and apply current evidence on pathophysiology to guide management.
- Demonstrate and implement effective, ethical, and patient‑centered communication strategies that promote trust, informed consent, adherence, and satisfaction in ophthalmic care.

Complimentary parking is available in the garage located adjacent to the T. Boone Pickens Biomedical Building (NG3), which is not restricted on weekends.
After entering the main drive at 6001 Forest Park Road, take an immediate right into the parking garage. From the garage, walk across the breezeway and follow the directional signs to the conference auditorium.
