The aim of this symposium is to provide the latest knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of primary as well as secondary bone loss as a result of drug treatments, chronic kidney disease and bone disease after bariatric surgery. The format of this symposium will be a series of lectures presented by experts in the field on a variety of topics followed by panel discussions where the audience can directly interact with the speakers. The highlighted talk will be given by Dr. Sundeep Khosla, M.D., a world-renowned expert in the field of osteoporosis.

Target Audience

This symposium is designed for family physicians, internists, geriatricians, endocrinologists, gynecologists, rheumatologists, orthopedic surgeons, nephrologists, and other health care providers who are interested in the care of patients with osteoporosis and bone-related diseases. Students and trainees are encouraged to attend.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to link the educational objectives to Core Competencies (New Knowledge and Performance) and be able to:
  • Review the pathophysiology and evaluation of primary and secondary osteoporosis
  • Understand and discuss information on the latest diagnostic tools to be used in patients with primary and secondary osteoporosis
