Target Audience
This summit is designed for health care providers, public health professionals, and patient advocates with an interest in understanding the link between HPV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and related cancers.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe epidemiology of human papillomavirus (HPV), and apply current HPV guidelines and algorithms to improve patient vaccination rates, diagnosis of HPV infection, and post-infection medical management
- Identify the key factors that influence parents to decline appropriate HPV preventive care and learn ways to better communicate cancer prevention benefits of the HPV vaccine.
- Identify epidemiology of hepatitis B and hepatitis C, including high-risk groups; note the link of the viruses to liver cancer; discuss proven prevention methods for hepatitis B and know hepatitis C has a curative treatment
- Identify common and significant clinical problems for patients with hepatitis B and hepatitis C; describe ways a successful navigation system meets the needs of patients and examine ways to improve his/her own clinical practice's patient navigation system.
