SRC's 26th Annual Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics: Topics for Primary Care (JS2503A)
The 26th annual Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics: Topics for Primary Care (DBP) will be a live, in-person conference centering on: sleep disorders in children with neurodevelopmental disorders and ethical issues related to social determinants of language development. The speakers will present updates about the latest developments on these topics and will also share practical information useful to enhance clinical practice. The program will utilize live PowerPoint presentations with live Q&A and opportunities to apply knowledge in clinical situations through interactive case-based learning. Ample time will be allowed for discussion between the audience and the faculty.
Target Audience
This course is is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care medical professionals (PCMP) including pediatricians, family practitioners, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and other health care professionals providing direct care to children.
Learning Objectives
- Differentiate underlying causes of sleep disturbance in children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disabilities to better guide treatment decisions
- Explain behavioral and pharmacological treatments to address acute and chronic sleep disorders in children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disabilities
- Recognize the ethical dilemma of disparities in social determinants of language development and the association with disparities in developmental and educational outcomes for marginalized children
- Describe how clinicians can use evidence-based strategies to address social determinants of language development.
