SRC's 27th Annual DBP Conference for Primary Care: Focus on Autism (JS2603A)
Our 27th annual Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) conference for primary care will focus on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in young children. ASD is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impairments in social communication and the presence of restricted and repetitive behaviors, with an estimated prevalence of 1 in 31 children in the United States. Despite advancements in early identification, the demand for autism evaluations in young children far exceeds available specialists. This conference, scheduled for March 6th, 2026, is designed to meet the educational needs of primary care medical professionals (PCMPs), including pediatricians, family practitioners, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and other health care professionals who provide direct care to children. Sessions will cover important topics, including the definition of ASD, the importance of early identification, and methods for identifying and diagnosing ASD as a non-specialist. Additionally, we will discuss evidence-based therapies, interventions, and resources available to PCMPs and families. Attendees will learn how to incorporate these skills into their clinical practice while addressing family concerns and providing emotional support to the families of autistic children. On March 7th, a training workshop will provide PCMPs with behavioral intervention tools that can be used in their clinics and to assist families in supporting their autistic children.
