JGR613-2018 South Central AIDS Education and Training Center Tuesday AM HIV Lecture Series: 'Pathogenesis of Treated HIV' (101717)
The Tuesday Morning HIV Discussion Series targets healthcare providers with education about how to provide highquality, evidence-based, comprehensive medical care to patients with HIV/AIDS in both the inpatient and outpatient
settings. The presentations cover multiple topics and are intended to educate physicians, including both fellows and residents, medical students, nurses, case managers, social workers, pharmacists, physician assistants, and nurse
practitioners. The long-term goals are increasing access to care for HIV patients by educating primary care providers and developing specialists at all levels of providing health care. The Series starts with basic concepts of treating HIV
patients, including diagnosis and management of opportunistic infections, and expands to more specialized topics focusing on recent research. Since this series is part of the official education for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship
at UT Southwestern, the presentations meet the minimum standards set by the American Board of Internal Medicine. The schedule itself utilizes speakers from the UT Southwestern faculty and the surrounding Dallas area and runs on
the academic year, beginning July 1st and ending June 30th of the following year.
