Carmela San Luis, MD
Carmela San Luis received an undergraduate degree of BS Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from the University of the Philippines. She pursued medical training and received her degree from St. Luke's College of Medicine, Philippines. Currently, she is pursuing her Neurology residency training in University of Mississippi Medical Center and is on her third year residency. Her current projects include association of cannabinoid use and acute ischemic stroke, factors associated with non follow up after hospitalization for acute ischemic stroke, and hand hygiene quality improvement project. She is in the process of completing a case report on chronic progressive painless weakness. In addition, she is a member of the American Association of Neurology (AAN), UMMC Hand hygiene committee, and UMMC Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She served as a Neurology boot camp mentor in 2017 and Neurology Preceptor in 2015. She has held leadership positions during her medical school and served as the Student Council President.
