This series of classes is designed for advanced level mental health practitioners at a post-licensure level. The 6-hour Saturday classes will present the latest information in psychiatric treatment, coupled with hands-on practice and direct observation. All classes will be taught by expert faculty to a maximum of 25 participants who wish to advance their professional practice through the acquisition and mastery of very specific skills. Participants can register for and attend a single class, or the entire series.

So You Think Your Patient has an Alcohol Problem: First Steps for Alcohol Use Disorder

Adriane Dela Cruz, MD, & Hoa Vo, PhD

Instructors with a specialty in addiction will utilize case discussions, role plays, and demonstrations with feedback to increase skills in identification of alcohol use disorder. They will also provide an overview of evidence-based pharmacotherapies and therapeutic interventions for AUD.

Target Audience

This series is designed for advanced (typically postdoctoral) level mental health scientists.

Learning Objectives

  1. Name and describe at least 2 therapeutic interventions for working with patients with alcohol use disorder
  2. Name and describe at least 2 pharmacotherapy options that are evidence-based for the treatment of alcohol use disorder
  3. Identify and describe at least 3 specialty treatment resources for patients with alcohol use disorder (including mutual help/peer groups),
  4. Describe a patient scenario appropriate for referral to each resource.
