Martin Lumpkin, Ph.D. Clinical PsychologyI
I graduated from Texas Tech University in 1971 with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. Currently licensed in the State of Texas, I am in part-time private practice in Terrell, TX. A main thrust of my work is teaching mindfulness to lay groups and within the psychotherapy context. I have written a book on mindfulness entitled Into the Music of the World: Living Life Mindfully. With Dr. Preston Wiles, Director of the Student Counseling and Wellness Program at UTS, I help facilitate mindfulness classes for medical and graduate students interested in stress management.
In the past, I have worked at Terrell State Hospital, heading the Substance Abuse Unit. I have also taught courses in psychotherapy and mindfulness in the Dept. of Psychiatry, Division of Psychology at UTS Dallas. My mindfulness training can be found on my website: www.martinlumpkin.com.
