This series of classes is designed for advanced level mental health practitioners at a post-licensure level. The 6-hour Saturday classes will present the latest information in psychiatric treatment, coupled with hands-on practice and direct observation. All classes will be taught by expert faculty to a maximum of 25 participants who wish to advance their professional practice through the acquisition and mastery of very specific skills. Participants can register for and attend a single class, or the entire series.

Integrating Neurocognitive Psychiatry into your General Mental Health Practice

Instructors will provide a practical guide for non-specialists who encounter patients with neurocognitive disorders, including cognitive evaluation in a general office setting, cognitive enhancers and treatment of cognitive symptoms, pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, and psychotherapy in the setting of Mild Cognitive Impairment or Mild Dementia

Target Audience

This series is designed for advanced (typically postdoctoral) level mental health scientists.

Learning Objectives

  1. Administer and interpret brief cognitive assessments in the general office setting.
  2. Identify and apply evidence-based interventions for treatment of cognitive symptoms (pharmacologic, over-the-counter, and behavioral modalities).
  3. Describe and employ effective communication and behavioral management strategies when working with individuals with cognitive symptoms.
