Biography for Dr. Faisal Qureshi
Faisal Qureshi, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He serves as Director of Bariatric Surgical Center at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. He specializes in pediatric surgery and surgical critical care.
Dr. Qureshi earned his medical degree at Aga Khan University Medical College in Pakistan. He completed a residency in surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. He received advanced training through surgical research fellowships at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Johns Hopkins University, and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, as well as a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at the University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He also holds a master’s degree in business administration from George Washington University.
Board certified in surgery, surgical critical care, and pediatric surgery, Dr. Qureshi joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2015. Prior to joining UT Southwestern, Dr. Qureshi held a number of leadership positions at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
He is a reviewer for the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and has published nearly 50 peer-reviewed articles and nine book chapters. He lectures all over the world on pediatric surgery topics.
Dr. Qureshi is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Surgeons, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Society of University Surgeons.
Dr. Qureshi is regularly included in D Magazine's Best Doctors list.
