  • ECMO and Cannulation Bundle (May 31 - June 3, 2022): $3,000

This 4-day, combined didactics and simulations course will include indications and contraindications for ECMO, patient and ECMO circuit physiology, anticoagulation, and other aspects of ECMO patient care and management. To meet specific learner needs, learners will be divided into 2 categories: adult patients and pediatric/neonatal patients. Certain didactic sessions on day #2 of the course are directed at the specific patient population that the learners are interested in. The course will run 2 Simulation rooms simultaneously (adult and pediatric) to cater to the mixed audience. We will also utilize clinical case scenarios, and technological resources to facilitate team training and clinical critical thinking and decision making. The final day (#4) is an optional Cannulation course that will cover the basics of ECMO cannulation including relevant anatomy, using ultrasound guidance, and a review of the available cannulas for ECMO. The content is designed to give a basic understanding of the steps involved in cannula placement. Over the 4 days, learners will also review pitfalls and troubleshooting of the different techniques. The course is appropriate for health care professionals working in centers new to ECMO (as well as those providers responsible for cannula insertion).

Target Audience

This course is targeted towards Critical care, Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine, Surgery, and Pulmonary Disease physicians, as well as PAs, APNs, and nurses in these specialties.
